How long have you worked at DEROSA?
I have just moved to Bishops Stortford from London, and am really excited to be joining the team at DEROSA.
Please give a brief summary of your musical background and experience.
I started learning the Piano at a very young age, then moving on to learn the Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet. I knew from about the age of 9 how much I loved music, and knew I wanted to make a career out of it. I joined the Birmingham Conservatoire Junior department at the age of 13, spending every Saturday there having lessons and playing in the Orchestras. I went on to join the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain for 3 years. I moved to London and went on to study Saxophone at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2010. Since Graduating in 2014 I have toured extensively throughout the UK and all over the World with Shows, also playing in the West End.
Please Describe what you will be doing at DEROSA.
I will be teaching Piano, as well as starting up a ‘Woodwind Department’ teaching Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute.
How do you inspire your students to become musicians?
Music should always be fun and never feel like a chore! Although it takes practise to become a good musician, that does not mean it should be boring. I believe in inspiring young musicians with what could be, always playing them different music, and listening/showing/talking to them about the people who have mastered the different instruments. When the Pupils know all of the amazing things that a career in Music can bring, everything else will fall into place, the practise will feel enjoyable, and goals will be achieved!
Why do you think students should choose to come to DEROSA?
DEROSA is full of musicians who have worked in the industry and have the experience. It is also a welcoming, fun and friendly place where everything is done to make the students feel welcome, inspired and eventually an accomplished musician.
DEROSA, based in Bishop’s Stortford, is a leading institute in contemporary music. At DEROSA we offer lessons in drums, piano, guitar, bass, vocals, ukulele, band and now saxophone, clarinet and flute. We also offer services to Primary education.
