How Long have you worked at DEROSA?
I’ve been at DEROSA since before we changed from Playsomething, I taught my first lesson with them in December 2010.
Please give a brief summary of your musical background and experience.
I started playing drums in school at 12 years old, and immediately knew that it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After leaving school I studied music at college, and after that University. I joined my first band at 14, played my first festival at 15, and took my grade 8 exam at 17. I have played in dozens of bands ranging from acoustic folk to metal.
Please Describe what you do at DEROSA
At DEROSA I do my best to inspire children and adults alike to achieve their very best in drumming. I make sure that they understand what being a drummer involves, and try to help them understand the different elements to various styles of music.
How do you inspire your students to become musicians?
I make sure they have fun! Whether in the classroom or at home, I let my students know that the best thing they can get from drumming in enjoyment. You don’t need to be Phil Collins to have fun behind the drum kit! We have a drummer of the month each month, so all students have a chance to see the kind of greatness they can achieve by putting in the practice.
Why do you think students should choose to come to DEROSA?
We make music enjoyable, just as it should be, but at the same time we’re here to deliver you a lesson that will turn you into a quality musician, as long as you’re putting in the effort! Here at DEROSA the students come first, we’re friendly, helpful, and willing to do whatever we can to make our students feel welcome, happy, inspired, and accomplished.
