Yamaha Revstar RS420BS Electric Guitar in Black Steel finish

Overview:

Yamaha has a strong reputation for great build quality and reliability. So if you are looking for either a  great guitar or an upgrade, check out a Yamaha Revstar RS420 electric guitar range from Yamaha.

Where the Yamaha scores points over a lot of other makers is the consistently high build quality. Yamaha’s quality control is truly outstanding. You know that every one that arrives from the factory will be as good as the last.

What makes the Revstar electric guitars so great?

The Revstar RS420 range have the basic “double cutaway” design with some added unique features.

Revstar Design

Styled by Yamaha to reflect their product heritage since the 1960’s these guitars are truly a unique blend of form & function beautifully designed and assembled.

Revstar Custom Pickups

You get 2 covered humbucker pickups on the Revstars and this model features the “dry” switch.  This feature is activated by a push-pull pot and gives a wider tone range than standard humbuckers. This feature comes into its own when you are playing loud & live. If you want less bass in the sound, use the dry tone switch to reduce bass & add to the clarity.

The pickups are selectable using a 3 position switch as you would expect. Yamaha only fit  2 controls for the entire pickup set. One for  tone, one for volume plus the added dry tone pot. That makes the guitars easier to use.

Revstar Body & neck

The Yamaha Revstars all have 22 frets giving the player more scope to reach two full octaves within the same space. That means that the revstars can reach 2 octaves with a single string bend at the top end of the neck more easily.

In keeping with other Yamaha guitars, the RS420 has a “contoured body” with a belly and forearm cutout section. This body shaping makes them more comfortable to play for longer periods. Many people who play Yamaha guitars often say they feel more comfortable than other makes of guitar.  The double cutaway design allows more access to more of the guitar neck for all situations.

The jack cable socket is on the edge of the bodywhich lets you use any shape of cable to connect to an amplifier. This enables you to trap the cable under the guitar strap securely. This prevents it pulling out and damaging the socket & internal electronics.

Other touches on Revstar guitars

Tune-O-Matic bridge for great intonation & tuning stability. Revstar guitars are all fitted custom-wound pickups made to match each guitar in the range perfectly.

The colour choices and metals used for the components on Yamaha Revstars are uniquely Yamaha too. They have a long engineering heritage so, for example, some colours & metal parts use the same materials as some vintage 1970’s motorcycles.

Summary of the Revstars features:

  • 2 x Humbucker Pickups with “Dry” Tone switch
