Day 3 – Today, our pupils are focusing on pop music as a genre. Pop music originated during the 1950’s and 1960’s, deriving from rock and roll. Pop songs have a good rhythm, a catchy melody, and are easy to remember and sing along to. They usually have a chorus that’s repeated several times and two or more verses. Most pop songs are between two and five minutes long, and the lyrics are usually about the joys and problems of love and relationships.
Some of the most popular artists that have influenced pop music include The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Madonna. The song for today is Jess Lynn’s “Take Me Home”:
